كيف يحدث المرض؟

Sinusitis is caused by the swellings in the sinus cavities,Which causes the mucus membranes to thicken and leads to increased mucus production.
sinusitis يحدث نتيجه لوجود تورم داخل تجاويف الجيوب,مما يؤدي الى زياده سماكه الاغشيه المخاطيه المبطنه للجيوب, وبالتالى زياده افراز المخاط.

The sinuses drain through tiny openings called ostia. This inflammation causes these small openings to become blocked causing the mucus to accumulate and build up pressure. This results in tremendous pressure, pain and headaches

في الأحوال الطبيعية يتم تصريف المخاط من خلال فتحات صغيرة بينالجيوب الانفية والأنف. وجود هذه الالتهابات تؤدى الى انسداد هذه الفتحات وبالتالى يتجمع المخاط مسببا ضغط على جدران الجيوب ,الم, والام فى الراس(صداع).




Blocked mucus becomes an ideal area for trapped bacteria to multiply and cause an infection.
When the sinuses get inflamed and infected they also cause systemic symptoms like fever and fatigue

تجمع المخاط يمثل بيئه صالحه لنمو وتكاثر البكتريا, وبالتاى حدوث الانتانات .
قد تؤدى هذه الالتهابات والانتانات الى حمى واجهاد وفتور عام فى الجسم.



Very rarely sinus infections spread backwards which infects the brain and becomes a life threatening disease

نادرا , تنتشر الاصابه وصولا الى المخ ما قد يتسبب فى ظهور امراض مهدده للحياه



Types of sinusitis
الانواع



Sinusitis symptoms also vary according to the duration of the "sinus attack".

التهاب الجيوب الحاد Acute Sinusitis
Sinus attack usually lasts for a period of at least 2 - 3 weeks. This is usually after a viral infection which causes swelling of the sinus membrane, as a result one or more of the sinuses may become blocked.
Then bacteria that normally reside within the cavity start to multiply and cause an infection
تستمر الاصابه غالبا لمده 2-3 اسابيع , وغالبا تحدث بعد التعرض لالتهاب فيروسى ادى لتورم الاغشيه المبطنه للجيوب وبالتالى انسدادها. هذا الانسداد يمثل بيئه مثاليه للبكتريا الموجوده اصلا داخل الجيوب للتكاثر.

A combination of some of the following symptoms signifies acute sinusitis
الاعراض المصاحبه لالتهاب الجيوب الحاد:


الام فى الوجه عند الضغط عليه- Facial pain/pressure



انسداد الانف- Nasal obstruction


- Thick and colored nasal discharge yellowish or greenish
افرازات انفيه ذات قوام سميك وغالبا تكون صفراء او خضراء

فقدان تام لحاسه الشم - Diminished sense of smell


كحه(ليست بسبب الازمه) لدى الاطفال - Cough not due to asthma in children


حمى- Fever


رائحه نفس كريهه- Bad breath


فتور - Fatigue


الام الاسنان العلويه- Ache in the upper teeth


كحه لدى الكبار- Cough in adult


التهاب الجيوب المزمن Chronic Sinusitis
Chronic sinusitis is a condition that is common in people who have asthma or an allergic disorder.
يمثل حاله شائعه عند المرضى المصابين بالازمه او الحساسيه.


الاعراض The symptoms of chronic sinusitis include

الم فى الوجه عند الضغط عليه- Facial pain/pressure


احتقان فى الوجه/امتلاء - Facial congestion/fullness


انسداد الانف- Nasal obstruction/ blockage


-Thick nasal discharge/discolored post-nasal drainage
افرازات انفيه ذات قوام سميك/ و تدفق الافرازات ناحيه الحنجره والبلعوم

صديد داخل تجويف الانف Pus in the nasal cavities


Occasional fever more prevalent in children
(نادرا) حمى , وغالبا متكرره عند الاطفال


فتور- Fatigue


استفراغ- Vomiting



التهاب الجيوب المتكرر Recurrent Sinusitis
This type of sinusitis occurs when one has several separate attacks during the year. The attacks are usually caused by an allergic reaction to varying weather conditions, animal hair, dust mites, mold, pollen etc. A combination of Acute and Chronic sinusitis may signify recurrent sinusitis.
يظهر فى المرضى الذين يتعرضون للاصابه عده مرات خلال السنه الواحده.
يحدث غالبا نتيجه للاصابه بحساسيه تجاه ظروف جويه معينه, شعر الحيوانات, حبات الغبار, العفن(الفطريات), حبوب اللقاح...الخ.
الاعراض تتباين بين الحاده والمزمنه باختلاف المسببات.[/grade]
